I have a small makeshift poor-man’s studio setup. It consists of two Godox flashes, mounted in light stand heads that also accommodate Bowens accessories. The flashes are controlled with a Godox remote trigger on the camera. There’s also a background — a setup on two stands that will hold a roll of background paper or a background cloth.
The main raison d’être for this is to photograph my wife’s paintings (see the last photo), but I also dabble around with it a bit, experimenting with shaping my own light for still lifes and stuff.

Yummy still life
Clearing the table after the shots were done was also enjoyable. This shot uses a softbox with grid to light the food, and a snoot with grid to bring out some sparkles in the bottles without illuminating the background.

An attempt at product photography. I wanted to sell this deck on Marktplaats, and thought I would use that opportunity to try some product photography.

I have her around for practice. She’s very patient, and not prudish at all.
I like how, with a snoot, you can precisely “draw” with the light.
Drawing outlines with light
I like how the disappearing rear arm suggests the hipline without showing it, and how the light accentuates her shape from the rib cage down. If this would’ve been a real model, I’d have asked her to raise her arm so as to hide the breast a bit. I like to suggest rather than show.
