Photos of the 2026-08-12 eclipse

Here are a couple photos I took at yesterday’s partial (88% in the Netherlands) eclipse.

These photos were taken with a Sony α99-II with a 70-400 G zoom lens at 1/250 or 1/125 with aperture f11. The lens was fitted at the front with a home-made Baader Astrophysics ND-5 foil filter, that filters out 99.99% of the light thrown at it. Mind you, if I would not have used this filter, the camera and the lens would have been fried beyond repair less than 15 seconds in.

I started at ISO100 and went up to ISO800 as time went by and the sun had more atmosphere to pierce through. All images were shot at daylight colour temperature.

The “balloon interference” photo happened when a hot-air balloon decided to land in the meadow in front of us.
